Everybody that is looking to get a website up and running to generate any sort of revenue from them will know the importance of traffic.
I have not long started building my first website and put a monitor on the homepage where I can see at any time I view the site how many visitors I am getting to the site.
One important thing to note at this point is keeping your own visits uncalculated at this stage. As my site is a free site provided by webeden I simply got to the www.webeden.co.uk site and select edit site. This then lets me view my website from the inside portal thus avoiding my daily trips being calculated on the visitor count. In turn this will provide an accurate reading of how many visitors the site has had in total.
As it is a free site there is probably a lot of other tools that are unavailable to me at this time but for those that own their own site you should be able access this type of analysis from your site host.
I have come across a site called www.backlink-exchanges.com. This is a very useful site as it allows you to enter your website to a database where people can find out about your site. You simply add the name of your website and a bit about what your site is about. Think of the content of your site section as your advertisement for people to go to your site as they will be able to see this section before they click to go to your page.
All the site asks in return is that you do the same for them. They advertise your website and in turn they provide you with an html code that you put into your website to advertise for them.
The benefit here is it’s free to use it.
